REASONS WHY YOU MAY BE UNINTENTIONALLY GAINING WEIGHT
They are many reasons and factors that contribute to weight gain, from one's food intake to lack of exercise and sometimes undiagnosed medical issues.Weight gain can turn out very frustrating especially when you do not know what may be causing it.
Here are 5 causes of unintentional weight gain:
EATING HIGHLY PROCESSED FOODS
Many highly processed foods such as sugary cereals, fast foods and microwave diners contain properties that can lead to unhealthy weight gain. It is wise to substitute some of the foods with frozen fruits, yogurt or oats which are minimally processed. A 2019 study conducted suggested that 32% of the people who eat ultra-processed foods were highly likely to be obese than those who ate the least.
EATING TOO MUCH SUGAR
Sugary foods and beverages such as candy, cakes, sports drinks and sweetened coffee drinks can easily lead to weight gain.Sugar intake does not only lead to weight gain but many health practitioners also link it to health conditions like diabetes.
LACK OF EXERCISE
Having desk job that requires you to sit all day long can be one of the reasons why you may not frequently exercise as much as you are supposed to and other people can also sit for as long as 6 hours just watching television.Making a few adjustments such as taking long walks or doing some few stretching after a meal can be of good use in order to retain weight.
NOT GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP
Not getting enough sleep can trigger a lot of health issues including weight gain. A health line study demonstrated that people who slept for less than 6 hours daily had more body mass and visfatin –a protein associated with fat cells-- than those who slept for more hours. Slowing down on caffeine can help you to sleep well if you have problems getting enough sleep.
UNDIAGNOSED MEDICAL ISSUES
A disease known as Binge Eating Disorder (BED) causes weight gain and many other health issues through episodes of uncontrollable overeating.A depressed person can also find relief in eating and can also end up over eating causing one to gain weight as well.
You can also somewhat lose weight without necessarily exercising much, this is through eating foods that are high in fibre and not just any fibre but viscous fibre and the reasons I will try to explain in my other article.
